Tonight

I am planning to go to Applebee's tonight for dinner, and then see Pirates at 8. I would love for more people to come, but I'm pretty sure that those who read this have already declined (except Sarah because she's sweet) because they don't like Orlando Bloom or me, not sure which one. Either way, if you're not going, you're missing out, but I still love you, and that is a lot of commas. So, who is doing Powderpuff tomorrow. I am excited, but not as much as I was in the fall, especially because it is supposed to 90ish degrees and we will burn! Anyway, let me know if any of you change your minds and can come tonight. I would love for you to come!!!

Linz

Projects

So, here is a list of my long-term projects, one in every class (besides my non-classes Health, Gym, and Chorus):

Spanish- Write a paper and give a presentation on the Dominican Republic.

Creative Writing- Portfolio, including working on my play.

AP Gov- Create my own country with a paper and a poster, including government system, timeline, and ideology. We also have to work on a detailed analysis of the political themes of Star Wars, which we are watching in class.

AP Psych- Make a movie of a person with a disorder and three ways to treat it.

Good luck to everyone on their projects. I know you all have a lot of work to do as well. I am trying not to procrastinate because I don't have much day-to-day homework, but I'm not sure it will work. Plus, I really wanna do a lot of stuff with friends (all of you reading this) soon. Anybody have any ideas? I'm up for anything.

Linz

German

I am dreading my German final tonight. I am definitely going to fail. Not the "oh, I'm gonna fail" that everyone says before any test whatsoever. I really cannot fathom how I can pass this test. I try (ok, not as much as I should), but there is just too much information to memorize. At least we will have a party after we take the test with German food. I can look forward to that. Plus, it is my last class so I won't have to deal with doing German homework at the last minute Monday afternoons anymore. Man, that was annoying.

Well, wish me good luck. See you all on the other side.

Sunday

So, our second soccer game was a joke. We ended up only having three subs and we were all ridiculously worn out. The whole game was played in slow motion. We lost 4 or 5 zip and we really didn't seem to care. I mean, we obviously wanted to win, but we just couldn't put in the effort. The game at noon today was much better. It was raining hard for a few minutes and always wet, but that made it kinda fun. We all played hard and were winning for a lot of the game, but lost in the end 2-3. It was sad, but ok. It is just a tournament, not the actual season.

I came home and watched the Red Wings lose. It was terrible. They were winning 1-0 and then they let the Anaheim Ducks score with 47 seconds left (granted they had a two man advantage because we committed a penalty and the pulled their goalie, but still). Then, the Ducks scored in Overtime and won. I was furious. Now the Ducks are leading the series 3-2. It's not impossible for us to win the series now, but it sure is harder. If only we didn't lose that lead. In a way, the Red Wings kinda reminded me of my soccer team in today's game. We actually have a lead and we blow it. So frustrating!

Later, I watched Run Lola Run for the first time, which is a really famous German movie. My LAST German class is tomorrow night. I have to study so much for the final test. I'm going to fail, I just know it. Anyway, I was watching the movie because if we watch any German movie and write a short summary of it, we can get extra credit, and I really need it this semester. It was good, but not in the way I was expecting. I mean, it was interesting and I know that it had a lot of revolutionary camera and movie-making techniques in it, but I don't feel like I got a lot out of the plot. It didn't really seem profound to me or anything like I was expecting. But, it was still good. Now, I have to go to sleep because I will be up late tomorrow due to German. After this is over, I will have some long term projects, but it's basically home free. I can't wait til I can just spend as much time as possible with my friends!

Linz

Lilac Festival

I went to the Lilac Festival last night. It was tons of fun. I finally got my bloomin onion, which was to die for! Weirdly enough, the walk to the car was the best part, smelling the lilacs, talking, laughing a lot. I love the Lilac Festival. It gives me such a sense of community. We didn't have stuff like that back in Michigan. Plus, lilacs are so fantastic. They're purple and they smell glorious!
I have a soccer tournament this weekend. We played our first game this morning and tied 2-2. I have to go to my second game right now. We don't usually do so well in tournaments, but I'm confident. After all, we only had one sub this morning and we played really well. We will have a lot more subs tonight, including some really good players that weren't there this morning. So, I will write more later. I hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!!!

: )
Linz

Hugs and Health

I want to talk briefly about hugs. I know this may seem to be a very random topic to discuss, but it pertains to something that happened to me today. I have always loved giving hugs to people. I grew up in a loving family and we give hugs, ok? So, when I try to hug some people, they just get creeped out. Well, I found my partner in hugs last semester. We gave each other a hug every day when we saw each other in Humanities. I always kinda thought that it was a jokingly nice thing to do for her, because she always laughed when I gave her a hug. Now, we only see each other about once or twice a week at random times, but we still give each other hugs when we see each other. Well, today I saw her after Homeroom and she told me how much she missed our daily hugs from last semester. She said she always looked forward to them and no matter how she was feeling that day, even if she was in a crappy mood, a simple hug would make her smile and be happy for the rest of the day. She told me how much she will miss me next year. And I will miss her. The point of this story is not that everyone should go around constantly hugging each other (though we would probably have fewer wars and less bloodshed if we did). The point is that people should not get creeped out by me hugging them. I'm not trying to be weird or funny or random. I'm just trying to show my support for someone, maybe lift their spirits if they need it, or just say "hello, it's really great to see you." So, that is my lecture for the day. Sorry it was so random.

Anyway, Health was fun today with the boys vs. girls debate. We asked questions and told our likes and dislikes. Us girls definitely had more likes than dislikes, so we wrote the likes in big handwriting. I love how my idea of a like was that they are good at household stuff like killing bugs and fixing stuff. Also, when we were writing questions yesterday, Baroody gave us questions from last semester to look at and consider. I was reading them off. I came to the question, "Will you pursue a girl if she wants to wait til marriage for sex?" A certain girl in my class from Mexico said, "What? I don't understand. Why is that a question?" So hilarious. She also said that she wanted to know why American boys wore their pants so low that we can see their underwear. She said that boys in Mexico don't do that and it made it look like the boys had "pooped their pants." Quite amusing. : )

Well, I'm off to watch the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Pistons. You all better wish them good luck.
; )

Done with APs

I realize that I shouldn't really be too happy about this because it's not like it was awful studying for APs this year. I just didn't do it. No, really. Instead of studying for Psych last night I was talking with a certain movie buff who says she has seen Buffy but hasn't and likes to eat blue jello. Yeah, that was an interesting conversation.
But still, I am ecstatic that APs are over so that I don't have to sit through another one with the annoying proctors, more annoying directions, obsessing over filling in the bubbles for my name correctly, weighing each question carefully knowing that when I am between two answers, I should always guess and not skip it, but I will get the answer wrong anyway, seeing everyone around me done way (and I mean way) before me (though I'm sure that will continue continue at college), and preying on the brain waves of unsuspecting students next to me who surely know more answers than me. Yes, I will miss the College Board numbering us like cattle. And then when you're done taking the test, they give you another number to identify yourself with, a number that you keep for the rest of yourself, a number that kids obsess over. Well not me. I've got a life to live. Anyway, I'm done. haaaaaa (sigh)
I went to the Lilac Festival for 5 hours today. That was fun. I wish there were more cute boys there, but I will definitely be going again. Hopefully I will not be disappointed then.
So, now I have to write 4-6 pages of a play and prepare for a Spanish composition I have to make up tomorrow. Oh well. I have 1, 3 (chorus, but basically free if I need it), 6, 7, and 8 free tomorrow. It will be oh so nice. Plus, we will finally finish Archangel, the movie we've been watching in Gov. It's really good and everyone should see it if they haven't, which I assume no one has because I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about movies and I had never heard about it and it only came out in 2005. It's REALLY good. So, it's off to bed, otherwise known as another half hour of Facebook, Minesweeper, and pretending to be working on homework.

Good night and it'll all work out in the end (my motto).
: )

So, this is my first entry. I got an LJ so that friends can keep up with my life. This is mostly for college. I know they will get to see some stuff from Facebook, but not really what I have been up to on a day-to-day basis. I'm not saying I'm going to update it that often. We will see. This is a new experience and I will try to make it as enjoyable for you as possible in that whoever reads this will probably spend a lot of time laughing at my life. Oh well. That's the way the cookie crumbles. Wow, never said that before.
